Most restaurants per capita got everyone fat in BG.

I travel around KY a lot and BG wouldn’t be in my top 10 fatest cities in the state much less the south. I’d bet there is a doc or two on BG scamming health insurance or Medicaid for patients. Inflating weight and deflating height to justify coverage.

I’m not any glp1s but I’ve heard nothing but good things. Any if the negatives, which seem minor, can be abated by by dosing less more often. As you mention they seem to help with addiction, inflammation, and weight loss. I don’t want to make this in any way political, but the one government initiative I could get behind is making this drug super cheap. The upside would be worth it.

I think that's a big reason why insurance companies aren't fighting these claims very hard. The long term cost savings over heart disease, diabetes, etc is an easy cost-benefit analysis.

Really expensive way to treat alcohol addiction. Gabapentin and/or Baclofen work wonders and are cheap generics.

Compounded GLP1s aren’t THAT expensive. It may not be the most cost effective route for alcohol addiction. Generally speaking most meds used for addiction have a slew of sides. For some specific cases of addiction there aren’t any good meds. GLP1s are looking like a cure for generic addiction. Food, screens, smoking, drugs, sex…acting on dopamine. I’m always sceptical of the pharmaceutical industry and I’m not for government intervention on much of anything, but I’d support making this drug dirt cheap and supper easy to get. It would touch everything from healthcare to homelessness for the fraction of the cost of any one of the wars we fund.

Can we make this the "Medical Thread"? Put all your health related posts here. By the way--smoking is bad for you.

Most people are over-caffeinated and perpetually dehydrated and they have no idea the detrimental effects it has on their health.

I’ve been smoking chicken 1/4s lately. Then, I brush them with Alabama White Sauce. It’s so good. Discovered this at the CUSA Tourney in Birmingham at Saw’s Juke Joint. Been a fan ever since.

This reminded me of last time football played down at Alabama. Me and some boys from back home went to the game. Great tickets 10-12 rows up on the 40. We stopped off at Milo's for lunch on the way down and then went to Full Moon for dinner after the game. My one guy hadn't ever been very far from Monroe County, I guess. He stepped up to the counter and asked for a shoulder plate with beans and slaw. He was FLABBERGASTED to learn that they don't slice boston butts down there. After the embarrassment he was so turned around he ended up getting a hamburger haha.
I'm not sure I'll ever like anything as much as I do bbq from back home, but Alabama does pretty dang good.
