Timothy Olyphant's New Action Movie On Netflix Is Perfect For Anyone Missing His Time As Raylan Givens On Justified (3)

Timothy Olyphant stars in the action movie, Havoc, which is currently streaming on Netflix and is the perfect watch for viewers who miss his performance as Raylan Givens in the drama series, Justified. Timothy Olyphant began his acting career on stage in the mid-1990s, appearing in shows such as The Monogamist (1995) and The Santaland Diaries (1996), before making his television debut in the 1996 series Mr. & Mrs Smith as Scooby. He has since appeared in shows such as Deadwood (2004-2006) and movies, including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), which are considered some of Timothy Olyphant's best roles.

Between 2010 and 2015, Timothy Olyphant starred as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in the neo-Western crime drama series, Justified; the series was adapted from the short story "Fire In The Hole," by Elmore Leonard. Olyphant was widely praised for his role as Raylan Givens, and was nominated for several awards for his performance, winning the Satellite Award for Best Actor in 2011; its success led Olyphant to reprise his role in the 2024 miniseries Justified: City Primeval. Olyphant has teased a second season of Justified: City Primeval could happen, but until then, viewers can stream his new action movie on Netflix.

Timothy Olyphant's Role In Havoc Has Similarities To His Character In Justified

Olyphant Plays An Intense & Corrupt Legal Figure In Both Havoc & Justified

In 2025, Timothy Olyphant joined the cast of Havoc, co-starring alongside Tom Hardy, Jessie Mei Li, and Forest Whitaker. Directed by Gareth Evans, Havoc follows Patrick Walker, a corrupt homicide detective who works under Lawrence Beaumont, a real estate tycoon, politician and mayoral candidate. After learning that his estranged son, Charlie, is a murder suspect, Beaumont orders Walker to rescue Charlie from the criminal underworld. As Walker begins his search for Charlie, he uncovers a world of corruption, deceit and conspiracy that holds a terrifying grip on the entire city in a movie that spent four years in development.

In Havoc, Timothy Olyphant plays the role of Vincent, a police officer and narcotics detective, who plays a large role in the pursuit of Charlie and his gang of thieves following their drug heist. Olyphant's role as Vincent in Havoc closely resembles his acclaimed performance as Raylan Givens in Justified, in that both characters are involved in the law, with Vincent as a detective and Givens in the U.S. Marshal Services. Just like Givens, who shows his villainous side throughout Justified, in Havoc, Olyphant's Vincent also reveals that he leans into the dark side of the law.

He Has Proven His Skills As Both Heroes & Villains Across His Career

Since it debuted on Netflix, reviews for Havoc have been mixed, but the cast received praise from critics for their performances throughout the movie's plot. Timothy Olyphant, in particular, was praised for his performance as Vincent and has been positively compared to other darker roles throughout his career, including Raylan Givens in Justified. While Timothy Olyphant has shown his heroic side in various performances, such as Wes Krulik in Damages (2009-2010), Henri in I Am Number Four (2010), and Joel Hammond in Santa Clarita Diet (2017-2019), his performance as Vincent in Havoc proves he should play villains in future roles.

Throughout his career, Timothy Olyphant experimented with villainous roles in movies such as Go (1999), The Girl Next Door (2004), and was praised for his performance in the action thriller Live Free or Die Hard (2007). In 1997, Olyphant became the third actor to play the deranged killer Ghostface in the Scream franchise, through his character, Mickey Altieri, in Scream 2. Olyphant later reflected on Scream 2, considering it a "gift" and allowing him the chance to expand his career (via Variety). Timothy Olyphant has shown his capability as a villain and should definitely explore darker roles after the streaming success of Havoc.
